LifeWorks Staff had a booth at a Job Fair sponsored by the Greater Greenbrier Chamber of Commerce. The event was held March 13, 2019 at the Quality Inn in Lewisburg.

LifeWorks staff shared information about the LifeWorks program, Open Doors, Inc. and Greenworks with the other employers and job seekers who attended. Several employment applications and brochures were picked up.

Two LifeWorks participants attended the fair as well to introduce themselves to potential employers, and complete job applications. Pictured here are Stacey Brinson, job seeker, and Cindy Tucker, LifeWorks Program Manager.

Free Food Friday

Lifeworks WV

LifeWorks, a community rehabilitation program through Open Doors, Inc. is planning a Free Food Friday in conjunction with the City of Lewisburg’s First Friday festivities.

This will be August 4th, 2017 5-8 p.m., while supplies last.

Stop by for a hot dog and learn more about this program.

LifeWorks provides services to clients of the WV Division of Rehabilitation Services.

They specialize in pre-employment assessments and training to help students and adults, with limited work experience, develop good work skills and expose them to different work experiences.

LifeWorks also helps develop jobs and provides job coaching to help individuals learn their job tasks.

Lifeworks: Steps for Success

Lifeworks, a CRP (community rehabilitation program) which is a division of Open Doors, Inc. held a workshop titled “Steps for Success” on May 2nd. It was held at the Gus R. Douglass Building at the State Fairgrounds.

The keynote speaker was Dr. Beverly Ford from Durham, NC.  Dr. Ford holds a PhD in counseling psychology, and does a variety of trainings geared toward human service professionals, and youth.

This workshop was attended by juniors and seniors from Greenbrier East and Greenbrier West High Schools, a total of 90 students.  Dr. Ford’s presentation was very interactive, discussing change, as these students prepare to leave high school to enter the world of work, or to go on to high education.

They also discussed their success stories, learned tips on interviewing, and ways to use their network of acquaintances, such as friends, neighbors, church, grocery store, and so on to learn about job openings that may be filled before they are ever advertised.  The students had lunch, and several door prizes were given away.

This workshop was made possible through a grant from the West Virginia Division of Rehabilitation Services.
